Several years ago this was presented by some as a quick, easy and very compact 72-hour kit. It has bare necessity calories, and when combined with two 2-liter bottles of water will sustain you for 72 hours. I had friends who made these up for each family member and put one in a tote bag with the 2 bottles of water and they were all hanging ready to leave at a moments notice. All items will fit inside a one gallon milk carton. Seal the top of the container with either duct tape or by stapling. Dip the sealed end into melted paraffin and then it is all sealed against moisture.
I never actually tried to live for 72-hrs on this, but am presenting it as an option, and for some it may be the perfect solution.
